About Us
NESSIC connects schools, enriches student experience, and develops educators
What is NESSIC?
The Network for Enriching Students and Schools in China (NESSIC) is a private not-for profit professional organization for private bilingual schools in China. NESSIC was founded by experienced Heads of Bilingual Schools to provide professional development and extension in student sports and activities for bilingual schools in China. NESSIC is designed to offer high quality services that are cost-effective for participating schools. Several high-profile conferences are held each year in different regions of China that address bilingual school issues within the China context. These events bring China experts to share experiences and increase awareness of regulations and practices through networking.

Welcome from the CEO
The need is great, the time has come! Over many years there have been attempts to form an organization for private, bilingual schools. Now, with the right combination of expertise, experience and commitment, we are ready to launch and grow the Network for Enriching Students and Schools in China (NESSIC) for schools with a common purpose.

Tom Ulmet, CEO of NESSIC
The aims of NESSIC are to:
-
Support participating schools to provide high-quality education in a safe environment
-
Provide professional development opportunities for leaders, teachers and staff
-
Bring together teaching colleagues among participating schools to share information and experiences
-
Provide social activities to enhance participant interaction
-
Provide activities that provide extension for students.
NESSIC has been created by a group of Founding Members with a common vision. Though registered and licensed fully and legally in China as a company, NESSIC will function in principle through its Constitution as a not-for profit organization. Accordingly, the Advisory Board will be elected by the participating schools and will govern the network. They will oversee the finances of the network and will invite an external auditor to review the accounts annually, providing assurance of its not-for-profit intent.
The Founding Members have invited me to be the Founding Chief Executive Officer (CEO). You can see from my bio that there is considerable China knowledge, experience and connections to make this work. By working together in school-based settings of participating schools, we can provide high quality, cost effective professional development and growth experiences for students and staff.
The essentials are now all in place for rapid advancement. Take a good look through the website and see if NESSIC is for you, and then complete the NESSIC application if you would like to join with other schools that share your values and educational context.
All the best,
Tom Ulmet, MA, MEd
